The history of Boyd Cantenac

Château Boyd-Cantenac is a wine farm based on 18 hectares of farmland. Located in Gironde, more precisely in Margaux-Cantenac.

Château Boyd-Cantenac is owned by Lucien Guillemet. In the ranking of Bordeaux wines, it comes third. This estate was bought by an Irish merchant who fled to Jacques Boyd in the 1950s, in an ancient commune of France known as Cantenac. Before being purchased by the Guillemet family, the estate was sold to Boyd ally John Lewis Brown in 1906.

Wine production

As the third Grand Cru, Château Boyd-Cantenac has the capacity to produce 70,000 bottles of wine each year, a remarkable production record. To achieve this figure, the farm uses three different types of grape varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon is used for 66% and Merlot for 30%. Finally, it also uses 4% Petit Verdot.

In 2015, Château du Boyd Cantenac won the title of red wine vintage. It scored 95/100 from the Figaro team of experts.
