Château Cantemerle 1993 - Tasting and food pairing

A Haut-Médoc red wine from a respectable vintage

The 1993 vintage was marked by a cold, wet winter, followed by a cool, rainy spring. The summer was hot and dry, with ideal conditions for ripening the grapes. Harvesting took place between September 27 and October 12.
The wine is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot from vines located in the commune of Macau. It was aged for 18 months in oak barrels.
Colour: Intense garnet-red with tile-like highlights
Nose: Complex, intense aromas of red fruits (cherry, raspberry), black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), spices (vanilla, black pepper), tobacco and leather.
Palate: A powerful, full-bodied wine with good acidity and a long, persistent finish.
Cellaring : Drink now or cellar for several years.

Food and wine pairing :

  • Grilled red meats
  • Game
  • Blue-veined cheeses
