Château de Sales 1988 - Timeless Elegance
A Pomerol red wine from an exceptional vintage
The 1988 vintage was marked by a cold, dry winter, followed by a hot, dry spring and summer, providing ideal conditions for ripening the grapes.
The wine is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc from vines located in the commune of
Pomerol. It was aged for 18 months in oak barrels, with the proportion of new wood varying from batch to batch.
Appearance: Intense garnet-red color with tiled highlights, evolving to more ruby hues with age.
Nose: Intense, complex aromas of red fruits (cherry, raspberry), black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), spices (vanilla, black pepper), tobacco and leather, with notes of undergrowth and truffle that develop over time.
Palate: Powerful, full-bodied wine with good acidity and silky tannic structure. Flavors of fruit and spice combine with notes of mocha and dark chocolate for a long, persistent finish.
Cellaring : Drink now or cellar for several years. Ageing potential will depend on the batch and storage conditions.
